Jeneece Place

Check out the commemorative video for the opening of Jeneece Place!  Thank you to everyone who agreed to speak on camera and be part of this exciting mini-project within the Jeneece Place project.  We are delighted with this end piece and look forward to using it often to promote Jeneece Place to families and donors.

Saturday Sept 3rd Abigail came to visit with Jeneece and presented her with a cheque for $4,000.00 from the Rotary of Port Hardy. Jeneece in return gave Abigail a friendship bracelet.

Thanks for all of Gordie Dodd's very hard efforts on today's Walk for World Peace. Thanks for all of Gordie Dodd's very hard efforts on today's Walk for World Peace.  Many showed up in support of this worthy cause and to raise some extra money for Jeneece Place.  The day was perfect for a nice Sunday walk on Dallas Road.  

Had a great morning at the Broadmeade Village Heirloom Linens store.  They held a huge garage sale  getting rid of slightly defective bedding and old stock at rock bottom prices.  It was a fantastic success and we enjoyed coming out and meeting all the people.  

The TELUS Van Isle 360 is a biennial, point to point race circumnavigating wild and rugged Vancouver Island.  Sailed in 10 legs the course provides inshore, offshore and overnight legs through some of the most stunning and challenging waters on the planet.  Blast Sailing have commandeered this years race and is supporting Jeneece Place.

Now things are beginning to take shape.  I was by the site yesterday and so happy to see the framing sections already on site and ready for next week.  

I had a great time Tuesday night at the Union Club.  The Royal Oak Rotary had a fundraiser to help raise money for food that will go help feeding families that stay at Jeneece Place.  

It was a wonderful day at Happy Valley School when Principle , Mrs. Magiera handed over a cheque for over $2,000 that the students had raised over a 2 week period.  

The landscape at Jeneece Place construction site is changing daily.  Boy was I surprised to show up there this weekend and to see how far the grounds have come along since April 4th.  All I can say is WOW!

Want A Cookie® has partnered with the Queen Alexandra Foundation (QAF) for Children to help Jeneece Edroff fulfill her dream of building Jeneece Place. A project of the QAF, Jeneece Place will be a home away from home for families traveling to Victoria for medical care. Located on the grounds of the Victoria General Hospital (VGH), the QAF will break ground in March with plans to open Jeneece Place by the end of 2011.

Christmas came early for me and my fundraising.  With a great big heartfelt thanks to the Norgaard Foundation and to The Queen Alexandra Foundation we are now 2 Million Dollars closer to our goal.  The Norgaard Foundation donated a whopping 1 Million Dollars for capital costs and The Queen Alexandra Foundation matched that donation for operational costs.  This is the single biggest donation that the Norgaard Foundation has ever made.

Today at Save On Foods Memorial Arena a new tribute to the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay was unveiled.  Jeneece and several dignitaries were on hand for this event.  Please check out the photos on the photo page.

I was so happy to receive a cheque this past week from the Great Canadian Casino.  Those guys are so neat and to donate to my project is very cool.  I want to thank them for all the hard work they did raising the money.  Thank you so much. Jeneece.

On Sunday July 26th  Friends of Ferrari held their annual Ferrari race in Burnaby.  The drivers were a bit small but  packed a powerful punch as they raced around the race track.  The cars were awesome!  

WOW, the day is finally here.  The announcement was made that Jeneece Place will be built on Victoria General Hospital Property not even a one minute walk to the hospital.  Many dignitaries came out for the announcement.  

The TELUS Junior Skins played the Bear Mountain course this past Saturday and Sunday.  I was on hand to start the Junior Skins off and I was there last night to receive a cheque on behalf of The Queen Alexandra Foundation for the Jeneece Place Project.  

On Saturday April 24th The Friends of Ferrari presented  Joy Spencer- Barry  from the Queen Alexandra Foundation and I with a $10,000 dollar cheque for the Jeneece Place project.   WOW! I was so amazed and excited about their events.  

On March 27th I went to Vancouver for an award from Global Agents for Change.  This group is entirely run by youth.  They empower young leaders and social change agents through innovative projects, education and outreach and events. It was the 4th Annual Global Agents for Change Gala and Young Agents Awards.  

Congratulations to Variety on another successful year. 7.4 Million was raised on the Telethon.  Although I did not do the coin drive this year I did work hard behind the scenes taking photos. Check out my photo page for more photos.  Variety also made a commitment to assist Jeneece with her project.  Thank you Variety and thanks Mel, and Marshall for joining us on the show.  Mel and Marshall also helped out on the phones which were pretty busy we hear.

On Monday, December 21, 2009, Jeneece and a group of children undergoing medical treatments in the Greater Victoria region gathered to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, participate in some fun holiday activities and take a fun flight on the TELUS corporate jet.  Santa Flights have been hosted annually by TELUS for eight years in cities across Canada.

Yesterday, Jeneece was presented with a cheque from Bear Mountain for the Light up the Mountain Fundraiser.  Guests who donated a Tooney got to vote for the best lit up house on the Mountain.  Thank you for such an awesome event in the spirit of Christmas.  Jeneece was so thrilled to receive this first cheque for 2010.  Please check out Jeneece's photo and video  page for more.

On November 26th Jeneece had an opportunity to shake hands with the Exalted Grand Ruler of the Elks from Back East.  He will take Jeneece's inspirational story with him to share with the Elks across Canada.  They presented Jeneece with a $500.00 cheque which was matched privately by one of their members.  Jeneece thanks you all for the wonderful hard work that you do and also for thinking of her dream to support.

It was such an honor to be the chosen one for the City of Victoria to light the cauldron on the first day of the Olympic Torch Relay.  It was such an exciting time and everyone was just great.  I had my picture taken with so many people.  I felt like a shining star.  I will truly hold this moment  in time.  Thank you City of Victoria for giving me such a great honor.  Check out my photos on flickr - on my photo page.

WOW!  Not only did I get a new air flow mattress this week but this wonderful lady came to the house this week and gave me a beautiful handmade quilt for my bed.  It is absolutely beautiful.  I can not thank you enough for such a wonderful personal gift.  I will always treasure it.  Thank you so much Pamela Saunders of North Saanichton. 

October has been a very busy month and very exciting. I have been blessed with many wonderful opportunities this month. I have also been very excited that word about my new project Jeneece Place is getting out there. This week I received a wonderul cheque from the Oak Bay Kawanis for $5000.oo. I want to thank them for donating to my project. What is so great about this project is that people will see exactly where their money went. We will have an awesome home at the end of this. Thank you so much for thinking of me. Jeneece.

On Friday October 2nd the Tour de Rock riders finished their 14 day ride and finished up downtown at The Bay Center. This was the first year that I was not able to see them off. I was very sad about that and it felt weird not to be there. I did send my riders a letter which they were able to read just before they started their ride in Port Alice. Thank you Hudson Mack for delivering those letters for me. I was very happy to join them on their arrival downtown. I just wanted to say congratulations for a job well done. You guys are the tops. Hello All This is Jeneece's mom just letting everyone know that Jeneece's surgery went well and she was taken to the intensive care unit to be monitored overnight.  They are having some difficulties getting her pain under control but the worst part is now over.  We want to thank everyone for their well wishes and for a speedy recovery.  We will keep everyone posted as the week goes on. Thanks MOM

Jeneece and representative from QA receive cheque from Victoria Optomist Club!I received a cheque yesterday  from the Victoria Optiomist Club.  The Victoria Optimist Club has been supporting my efforts for three years now.  I am so pleased that they continue to support me on my new project.  For those of you who do not know I have been officially made an honorary Opbimist Club member.  I really enjoy going out  their meetings and having dinner with them.  I want to thank you for your continued support as we move forward with this new and exciting project.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to say thank you to those super people up in Duncan. We had such a great time up there this weekend washing their cars. The t-shirt sales were great too. The weather was hot and sunny. Getting sprayed was kind of fun too. I just wanted to say thank you Duncan for coming out and supporting my new project. Duncan you rock!

Staying connected to my friends and family is really important to me when I’m in the hospital because they are the people who love and support me. That’s why I want to make sure Jeneece Place has computers where kids and parents can send emails and update their Facebook pages to stay in touch. I talk more about my ideas in this video.
